Image Information Panel


The Image Information panel provides information about the currently open file. In this panel, you can find the slide label (if available) as well as any metadata fields, tags and snapshots associated with the file.

To toggle the visibility of the Image Information panel
  1. If the left sidebar is not displayed, toggle it by clicking on the Menu > button at the bottom left of the Viewer

  2. Click on the Info button in the left sidebar to open the Image Information panel

To resize the Image Information panel
  1. If the left sidebar is not displayed, toggle it by clicking on the Menu > button at the bottom left of the Viewer

  2. Hover or click on the Info button in the left sidebar

  3. Click and drag the right border of the panel to resize it

Image (Slide) Label

If a slide label is available, it will be displayed at the top of the Image Information panel.

Slide label may contain PHI and as such, the label is hidden for users that do not have the “View Protected Health Information” permission flag.
To view the slide label
  1. If the left sidebar is not displayed, toggle it by clicking on the Menu > button at the bottom left of the Viewer

  2. Hover or click on the Info button in the left sidebar

To rotate the slide label
  1. Hover over the label with the mouse

  2. Click on the Rotate button until the desired orientation is achieved

Editing Image Tags

All the tags currently associated with the file will be listed in the “Tag” section of the Image Information panel.

To add a tag
  1. If the left sidebar is not displayed, toggle it by clicking on the Menu > button at the bottom left of the Viewer

  2. Hover or click on the Info button in the left sidebar

  3. Click on the field showing the current tags (or Add a tag... if none have been added)

  4. (Optional) Type a few letters to filter the list of tags

  5. Select a tag from the dropdown menu

  6. (Optional) To create a new tag, click on the + New tag button after typing a new tag name

To remove an existing tag
  1. If the left sidebar is not displayed, toggle it by clicking on the Menu > button at the bottom left of the Viewer

  2. Hover or click on the Info button in the left sidebar

  3. Click on the X button of the relevant tag

Image Description

A description can be added to an image which will be visible to all users.

To edit image description
  1. If the left sidebar is not displayed, toggle it by clicking on the Menu > button at the bottom left of the Viewer

  2. Hover or click on the Info button in the left sidebar

  3. Click on the current description text (or Add Description if nothing has yet been written). This is directly below the tag section

  4. Type a description of the image

  5. Press Enter key or click anywhere else in the Viewer when done to save your changes

If you attempt to modify an item which is governed by a reason for change tracking policy, you will be required to provide a reason for the change.

Image Metadata and Fields

All of the metadata fields associated with the file are listed in the Image Information panel. You can click on a custom field metadata value to jump to a search using that criteria.

Metadata fields that are marked with “May contain PHI” will be hidden (field value will be “Anonymized”) for users that do not have “View Protected Health Information” permission.
To edit image metadata
  1. If the left sidebar is not displayed, toggle it by clicking on the Menu > button at the bottom left of the Viewer

  2. Hover or click on the Info button in the left sidebar

  3. Click on the Edit Metadata button

  4. (Optional) You can change the name of the image in the Image Name field

  5. (Optional) Click on the Add Fields dropdown menu and select a field

  6. (Optional) Change the value(s) of the listed field(s) accordingly, or clear the value by clicking on the gray X inside the field at the right-hand side

  7. (Optional) Click on the red X button at the far right-hand side, outside of a field, to remove it from the item

  8. Click on the Update button to save your changes, or click on the X button at the top right corner of the popup dialog to cancel

Downloading an Image

Only users with the “Download File” and “Download Image” permission flag are able to download files and images, respectively.
To download the image being viewed to your computer
  1. If the left sidebar is not displayed, toggle it by clicking on the Menu > button at the bottom left of the Viewer

  2. Hover or click on the Info button in the left sidebar

  3. Click on the image name

  4. Click on Download in the dropdown menu

  5. If prompted, select a location to save the downloaded file

If the image is a multi-file image format the Download entry will be replaced with Download As. Hover over it to expand that menu, then select an archive file format in the expanded menu.

Deleting an Image

Only users with the “Delete File” permission flag are able to delete images.
To delete the currently open and selected image
  1. If the left sidebar is not displayed, toggle it by clicking on the Menu > button at the bottom left of the Viewer

  2. Hover or click on the Info button in the left sidebar

  3. Click on the image name

  4. Click on Delete in the dropdown menu

  5. Click on the OK button to confirm

Editing Snapshots

Any snapshot associated with the current image will be listed in the Snapshots section of the Image Information panel.

To navigate to the location of a snapshot in the Viewer
  1. If the left sidebar is not displayed, toggle it by clicking on the Menu > button at the bottom left of the Viewer

  2. Hover or click on the Info button in the left sidebar

  3. Scroll down to the Snapshots section

  4. Select a snapshot by clicking on its thumbnail to reveal more options, then click on the Open button. Alternatively, you may double click on the thumbnail

To download a snapshot as an image
  1. If the left sidebar is not displayed, toggle it by clicking on the Menu > button at the bottom left of the Viewer

  2. Hover or click on the Info button in the left sidebar

  3. Scroll down to the Snapshots section

  4. Select a snapshot by clicking on its thumbnail to reveal more options, then click on the Download button

  5. Adjust preferences

    1. (Optional) Show/hide image annotations via the show annotations toggle
    2. (Optional) Enable the show label toggle to reveal a text overlay
    3. (Optional) Enable the show scale bar toggle to reveal a scale bar
  6. Click on the Download menu

  7. Adjust preferences such as

    • Size: adjust the width or height to specify the desired size
    • File type: select the desired format from the dropdown menu
    • White Background: Enable to use a white background instead of the default black
  8. Click on the Download button

  9. If prompted, select a location to save the downloaded file

To rename a snapshot
  1. If the left sidebar is not displayed, toggle it by clicking on the Menu > button at the bottom left of the Viewer

  2. Hover or click on the Info button in the left sidebar

  3. Scroll down to the Snapshots section

  4. Select a snapshot by clicking on its thumbnail to reveal more options, then click on the Rename button

  5. Edit the name in the popup menu

  6. Click on the Rename button

If you attempt to modify an item which is governed by a reason for change tracking policy, you will be required to provide a reason for the change.
To delete a snapshot
  1. If the left sidebar is not displayed, toggle it by clicking on the Menu > button at the bottom left of the Viewer

  2. Hover or click on the Info button in the left sidebar

  3. Scroll down to the Snapshots section

  4. Select a snapshot by clicking on its thumbnail to reveal more options, then click on the Delete button

  5. In the popup dialog, click on the Yes button to confirm
