Search Page
The Search page allows a user to find items meeting specific criteria from across the entire Repository. It has a versatile query language that can be used to create complex expressions. Search queries can be quite specific with support for various advanced features:
- One or more conditions
- Condition groups (i.e., brackets are supported)
- Restricting results to a folder or set of folders
- Restricting result type (e.g., image, folders, files, etc.)
To access the Search page
- Click on the
button to the right of the Global Search box in the Repository Top Bar
Search Targets
The Search page provides two targets that can be used to narrow the results:
- The Location target limits which folders are searched
- The Item Type target may be used to limit what types of results to search for
To set the Location target
Click on the
button to the right of the Global Search box in the Repository Top Bar
Click on the
button in the Location selection box
In the popup dialog, disable the Include all folders in Repository toggle to search in specific folders
(Optional) Select one or more folders to search
(Optional) Check the box next to Trash to also search items marked for deletion
(Optional) Check the box next to Unsorted Uploads to also search items uploaded by the Pathcore Upload Client
Click on the Apply button to save your changes, or Cancel to discard them
To set the Item Type target
Click on the
button to the right of the Global Search box in the Repository Top Bar
Click on the Item Type dropdown menu and select one or more of the items to narrow your search
To remove a search target
- Click on the
button at the right of a target field to remove it
Search Box
The main search box is where a user enters their search terms. Depending on which package is configured, the search can be toggled between two different modes:
- BioPharma - toggle between Simple and Advanced Search.
- Research+ - toggle between Keyword and Simple Search.
Display Settings
Search results can be customized with the same Display Settings used in Repository folder listings.
Search Operations
Search can be used to perform bulk operations on the items in the Repository. All Repository operations can be performed with search results, via the same Context Menu used in folder listings.
Exporting
Search results can be exported as a file in CSV format. See Exporting Results for more details.
Tagging
Search results can be bulk tagged. This allows you to quickly apply a tag or set of tags to all items that match the search query.
To apply tags to all search results
Perform a search. See Search Overview for more details
Click on the
button next to the Search title of the page
Select Tag All Results from the dropdown menu
In the popup dialog, choose a tag from the Add a tag... dropdown menu. To create a new tag, type directly into the field and click on the + (newly typed tag) option
Click on the Tag Results button
