Annotations

We provide an array of basic annotation tools that can be accessed by right-clicking on the image to bring up the annotation wheel.

These tools include:

• Rectangle - Rectangular area annotation and measurement
• Ellipse - Ellipse area annotation and measurement
• Ruler - Line annotation and measurement
• Polygon - Polygonal area annotation and measurement
• Freehand Draw - Freehand line annotation
• Bookmark - Placing a pin to bookmark an area

An annotation may be set to shared or private. Private annotations are visible only to the user that created them while shared annotations are visible to all users that have the view shared annotations permission.

Educator users can view all annotations available for an image. However, Student users are limited to viewing annotations that have been explicitly shared by the Educators via the annotation visibility controls available on questions and media types.

Yes. Annotation visibility can be controlled for Share Links created for an image and all images within a folder, for a Share Link created for a folder. However, all private annotations remain hidden via Share Link.

Yes. Annotations can be downloaded in JSON or CSV formats.

Yes. Annotations can also be accessed in 3rd-party applications via our RESTful APIs and via Pathcore developed integrations options.
